Still Transitioning!!

Well I am a little over 11 months post and I'm still transitioning. I can't believe it but I know that this time I will stay natural for sure. I have thoughts about just chopping it off right now. I still have to wait until I am a full year post because I have twists in. I think about taking them down early. Who knows maybe they will be out by the end of the week. I really want to start my journey to become natural. the only thing that makes me hold back is the fact that I have MEGA shrinkage. 1 year post may only look like 2-3 inches when fully shrunken. So I have been doing research on naturals that keep their hair stretched via twist/braid outs. I'll be baaaack.

Pleasant Sounds

So today I looked in my tea rinse powder jar and noticed I needed to refill it. So today is a nice day I open up my windows and go to the cabinet to get the herbs I need. Well as I was doing this I heard some flute music. I was like is someone blasting this in their house? No, it was coming from my window. The way the blinds were hitting against the screen made this beautiful flute music sound. I thought why not take advantage of this music and I decided to use my mortar and pestle to grind my herbs. I was just going put them in whole but while I grinded them I focused in my mind that this is going to nourish and help my hair to grow longer and stronger. I just know this mix is good. Here is my recipe:

1/2 tbs Brahmi
1/2 tbs Gotu Kola
1 1/2 tbs Bhringaraj
1 tbs Triphala
1 tbs Amla
1 tbs Shikakai

Use one to one half dessert spoon for your tea rinse.

Well here's what I'm gonna do

Okay so it has been a while, yeah people get caught up with life. I've been missing for a while, but hey everything is okay. Well when I relaxed my hair there was a lot of texture left I felt bad about doing it but now I'm sticking with it. It working out with me. People still think I am natural. I had my last relaxer on Dec 06 2008 and I don't plan on getting another one until May. So yeah about a six month stretch. I am about 14 weeks post now, and its going oookay. SO because of this I'm transitioning this blog into a hair journal like thing. I mean of course whatever products I am trying or want to try I will talk about them. But overall this will just be a space for me to rant and my hair. No more trying to make 2-3 posts per day. I will just try to post as I can, but no more 6 month breaks. HA HA HA. So tonight I am planning on twisting my hair if I don't decide to go to sleep. And I hope to post pics tomorrow.

Transitioning again!

Well about five days ago. I ended my transition by relaxing again. This was an extremely bad decision. Not only did I go back on what I believed in, I also have to start all over again. I'm just put some twists in today and hopefully in six months or so I will be ready to chop for the second time. I had a lot of new growth about 4 inches or so, and now I have none. I wanted to shave my head today, but I thought that was another extreme move. I'm trying to deal with it. Hopefully this time will be the last time. I want some long natural hair, that I can just wash and go. Its is probably going to take me a while to get to where I want to be. Probably about 3 or 4 years. Sigh and to think I almost was one down. Well I'm ready, and I'll have more reviews coming.

Dominican Products

Okay so I'm getting started with these Dominican products and already I'm loving them. A couple weeks ago I bought Miss Key 10 en 1, Tropical Crema de Aguacate(Avocado Cream), Baba de Caracol (has Snail Extract), Capilo Suela y Canela(Sole and Cinnamon) Silicon Mix, and Praital Gusano de Seda(Silk worm) rinse. Those are all conditioners. Well I have only tried 4 so far and I am impressed. I have pretty dry hair and if you do to I think you'll love them. Based on my research Dominican products contain more natural ingredients and are designed for the treatment of dry hair. I'll tell you my favorite so far is Silicon Mix. I just love, love, love it! I wasn't too impressed with Miss Key, it smells really good and it is nice and thick and it moisturized pretty well, it just didn't make detangling easier. The Avocado Conditioner is my second favorite so far, and the smell will stay in you hair even after a cowash. Its great. If you do plan on purchasing shop around first. I got mine online at http://www.beautyofnewyork.com/. They have pretty good deals. They have 8oz sizes so you can see if you like it before you get a 56 oz size(if you dare). I got all 8 oz sizes except the rinses are 16oz sizes. Oh the Baba de Caracol is not as bad as you think, it smells pretty good and It has great ingredients in it. I will post ingredients later when I finish trying all of the conditioners, it may take a while but just keep checking back.

I'm back!

I have been out of the loop for a while and now I'm back. I have tried some new products on my hair and am willing to share. First off I went to go buy some Redken Smooth Down "Sleek Obedience" Oh I just love this stuff. I initially was going to buy some "Water Wax" which is really good for smoothing down edges but I got this instead.
This stuff is awesome, you can probably find it for about 12-17 dollars. Its worth it since you only need a little. I use this on my ends to protect them. It is especially good for after flat ironing you hair to keep the straightened look longer.

Ingredients: Caprylic/Capric Triglycerid, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Isopropyl Palmitate, Cera Alba/Beeswax, Phenyl Trimethicone, Petrolatum, Polyethylene Glycol, Cocos Nucifera/Coconut Oil, C18-36 Acid Triglyceride, Ricinus Communis/Castor Seed Oil, Parfum/Fragrance, Aqua/Water, Proplyparaben, Salicylic Acid, Macadamia Ternifolia/Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Candelilla Cera/Candelilla Wax, Tocopheryl Acetate, BHT, Linalool, Limonene, Butylphenel Methylpropional, Oleth-10, Alphaisomethyl Ionene, Hydroxypropyltrimonum Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Geraniol, Disodium Cocoamphodipropionate, Octylacrylamide/Acrylates/Butlaminoethyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Lecithin, Phosporic Acid, Methylparaben, Polyquaternium-10, Ethylparaben, Disodium EDTA (D10851/1)

Whoa, I didn't realize how many ingredients there were before I started typing this. Well I guess you can see if you don't use petroleum ingredients then you might not want to use this. I would never use this every day only after flat ironing on the ends to keep them protected from the elements.

Also, another product I have bought recently is a Shea butter Detangler by Africa's Best Kids Organics. I bought this for my son's curly hair and it does the trick I use it more so as a moisturizer than a detangler. His hair is a 3a/b type. There is no petroleum or mineral oil in it in case you are wondering. It is very light and can be used for all hair thicknesses. His hair is fine in size but he has A LOT of it. This product doesn't weigh his hair down and keeps his curls defined.
